Story: G Ajay Kumar IPS (Mahesh Babu) is a sincere and angry police officer, he gets suspended for the death of a criminal who is in his custody, Ajay and his team goes to ISTANBUL to trace out the criminal link. Ajay falls for Prashanthi (Samantha) a fashion designer. Ajay is on a mission to seek revenge on those who made his father (Prakash raj) to go through a trauma. Will Ajay succeed in his mission forms the remaining story?

Performances: Mahesh Babu suited to the role well and he performed it with much ease. Samantha’s role is limited to songs only, she is okay. Prakash raj is fantastic as usual. Brahmanandam, M.S.Narayana came out with some good comedy scenes. Sonu Sood played the role of Mafia don. The remaining supporting cast fitted the roles well. Cinematography is good. Editing is okay but can be better. Music by Thaman is good. The Story has no novelty. The screenplay is good in few Scenes. The Direction is good.

Analysis: Mahesh has come up with some fantastic performance yet again after Khaleja, his comedy timing and dialogue modulation has changed a lot in the recent movies. Samantha doesn’t have much scope to perform as she is confined to only a couple of scenes and few songs only. The Chemistry between the lead pair is okay but they hardly have any combination scenes. Sonu Sood has donned yet another role as baddie (Mafia Don), he is okay. Prakash raj is good as usual. Tanikella Bharani, Chandra Mohan are okay. M.S.Narayana, Brahmanandam share more screen Presence in the comedy department. At times they even dominated Mahesh in few scenes.

Cinematography is good. The songs picturised in the abroad looked good on the screen. KV Guhan(cinematographer) worked for ATHADU movie also, so most of the action episodes /Frames reminds us of ATHADU. Editing is okay but the duration is long. Fight Sequences are well choreographed. Music by Thaman is Average on Audio but looked good on the Screen. The Background Score is also good. The first two songs looked great on the Screen.

Sequence of Songs: The sequence of the songs is in the same order as they are in the Audio.

1) Nee Dhookudu
Singer: Shankar Mahadevan, Lyrics: Vishwa
Picturised on hero as an introduction song, the song looked stylish.

2) Guruvaram
Singer: Rahul Nambiar, Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry
The Song is picturised on Mahesh and Samantha, Mahesh tries to convince her and the song came out well.

3) Chulbuli
Singers: Karthik, Rita, Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry
Picturised in the locations at the rann of Kutch. The tribal costumes remind us of ROBO movie.

4) Poovai
Singers: Ramya, Navin Madhav , Lyrics: Ramajogayya satry
The song was picturised as a Club/item song on Parvathi Melton and Mahesh.

5) Dethadi Dethadi
Singers: Ranjith Divya , Bhaskarabatla
Picturised as a mass song on Samantha and Mahesh. Samantha danced well.

6) Adara Adara
Singers: Karthik, Koti,Ramajogayya,Vardhini Megha
Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry
The song comes as a marriage song similar to the one in READY Movie.

The Dialogues are good. Some dialogue punches really suited well for Mahesh’s body language. Some Dialogues which came out well are…

“Mind lo fix ayithey Blind gaa Chesesthaa”

“Type-2 antaa Dheeniki yeh Typistoo dhorukuthaadu”

“Nenu Narakatam Modhalu pedithey narakam lo houseful Board pedatharu”

“Dhookudu lekapothey Police ki Postman ki Teda Vundadhu”

Mahesh with Sonia “Enti….Korruku thintaava…. Juice chesukoni Thaguthaava …..Nuvvu manishivaa man-eater vaa”

“Naaku okkanimisham time is the Aalochisthaa….Rendu nimishaalu isthe Action lo dhiguthaa Moodu nimishaalu isthey mugisthaa”

Brahmanandam with M.S “Kalla kinda Carry bag vesukuni hero antey ela nammavayya”

Brahmanandam got another significant role as owner of a bungalow who is trapped by Mahesh, Brahmanandam has done good job, he excelled in some scenes (especially the one in which he request for an SMS in a reality show). M.S.Narayana has done fine job, his spoofs on SIMHA, MAGADHEERA, YAMA DONGA, and ROBO are fun to watch.

Srinu Vaitla, Who has become the brand ambassador for entertainment in big budgeted commercial movies, is back gain with Superstar Mahesh in the lead. Vaitla followed the same old (his trade mark) Comedy episodes with bit of emotion here and there. The Director played safe game by selecting a simple story and narrated with more dosage of comedy. The First half is okay with some story and hero/heroine thread but second half is allotted completely to entertainment and revenge only. The second half is plain/Straight which moves on in expected lines only without a twist. Length has become a major problem in all the recent films of Srinu Vaitla KING, NAMO VENKATESA all the movies suffer from long Duration. This movie too runs more than 2hr. 40 min. A 20 minute editing could have helped more in shaping up the movie well. The film doesn’t offer anything new in terms of story or the plot. The director hasn’t gone out of the formula of our Telugu Mass-Masala movies, you should be able to guess the climax within the first ten minutes of the film and this movie doesn’t even have the twists you predict. The entertainment is familiar and has Srinu Vaitla’s mark in it. The movie has all the shades of Vaitla’s previous hits VENKY, DHEE, READY and KING, We have to wait and see for how long will the director keep beating the same bush with similar characterization and plot?

The hit range of the movie depends on how the Masses receive this entertainer.

Plus: Entertainment, Performances
Minus: Duration, thin Story line

Verdict: Mahesh Scores a Hit, A hardcore mass entertainer that fulfills the expectations of the Audience, Chances of becoming a HIT

1 "Naa Peru Shiva" Movie Review!!!

Behind the Movie Naa Peru Shiva: Tamil hero Karthi, brother of Suriya is growing his market in Tollywood. After the decent success of ‘Awara’ and ‘Yuganiki Okkadu,’ here comes ‘Naa Peru Shiva’ with Kajal Agarwal besides. Let us see, how this one will fare?

In the Movie Naa Peru Shiva: Shiva is a go lucky, plain hearted dude waiting for AE job. He has caring parents, a Cab Driver dad (Jayaprakash) and Home Maker mum (Lakshmi) with cute sister (Priya), more than all a big group of friends to spend all day and night in drinking and partying. During a friend’s marriage, Shiva falls instantly in love with Priya (Kajal Agarwal), who is also in search of a boy friend.

Life is going on happily for Shiva with Priya’s father (Ravi Prakash) accepting for their marriage once hero gets on to the job and his sister’s marriage fixed at the same time. A complicated rape and murder of young college going couple sets the Police on chase in parallel. Police find the chopped body parts of this couple at various parts of city.

Now, a sudden accident to Shiva’s father brings him close to reality of a middle class family. When Shiva starts understanding the life, his father gets murdered by a local college going crime gang. Shiva sets on the journey to punish real criminals behind the cold blooded killing of his dad. How is above mentioned murder case linked to Shiva’s father? Did Shiva punish the criminals? form the gripping climax.

Values of the Movie Naa Peru Shiva: Greatness of this film lies neither in story nor in performances; it is director Suseendran’s crystal clarity in story narration and the kind of mood he has set on the screen. However the strength in scripting cannot be under played. Although his actual plot revolves around crime around Chennai city yet we Telugu audience easily get into the style of Suseendran. Adding more of effect is Mathi’s extra ordinary cinematography which takes us into the lowest and slum sections of a metropolis. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is highly clasping to the subject. Editing by Kasi Vishwanath is sleek. One craft that needs applause is stunts by Anal Arasu that made climax a thrilling part of film. Dialogues are although of non sync still it is okay. Production values of Studio Green are good.

Performance wise Karthi got into the skin of character. His simple mannerisms in romantic episodes with Kajal in first half and change over to stunning action performances in second half needs special acclaim. Kajal Agarwal is cute and effective in chudidars. On screen chemistry of this pair is excellent. The gang of four bad college going fearless guys who rape the girl and their auto driver uncle who sketches the murder of Karthi's father are a part of compelling star casting. Remaining other artists unknown to Telugu audience are also okay.

Out of the Movie Naa Peru Shiva: Karthi who had two good hits in Telugu with 'Awara' and 'Yuganiki Okkadu' might get third one to join the list, if audience well digest this second half of film. Core strengths of the movie is entertaining first half with romance of lead pair and a serious second half where audience in theatre have gone for pin drop silence. There is no complexity involved in story telling. It is set straight. Suseendran has plotted the seeds for second half tempo with the very first starting scenes of film. Climax fight shot on a tsunami struck beach with damaged houses is high points in the film. Apparently description might have gone slow at times for Telugu audience with unmatched Tamil backdrop yet film scores in the final realistic episodes. Well, Suseendran not to disturb the main story line seems to have skipped a duet on hero and heroine.

Finally, what we see is a refreshing, novel and a different, tight format of story telling with no boring moments. Characterizations and credibility in screenplay are also winning points. BO wise, 'Naa Peru Shiva' has taken off brilliantly with good collections reported; one has to wait and see how far Karthi’s image will sustain these collections with ‘Dhada’ and ‘Kandireega’ slated for next week release.

Verdict of the Movie Naa Peru Shiva: Entertaining and Captivating.

0 "Mayagadu" Movie Review!!!

The last one saw of Venu was in Gopi Gopika Godavari, it's been exactly two years. He keeps appearing once in a blue moon to remind people of his presence in the film industry. Mayagadu has been sitting on the shelf for a while and appears to have got a token release. But for Venu's rambunctious role, there is nothing in the film in particular to warrant your attendance.

It's uncommon these days for Telugu movies especially to really absorb the viewers and when you are offered a story such as this which is as stale as a two week old pizza, how would one react? To make matters worse the screenplay is tired and conventional and six duets are forced upon that degrades into a clichéd and needless melodrama.

A very street smart lawyer Leela Krishna (Venu), instead of working hard banks on his earnings by living off people or outwitting them. He is pushed out of his village and lands in the city and plots to trap a rich lawyer Chidambaram's (Sayaji Shinde) daughter Spandana (Satya Krishna) by wooing her and getting into the good books of her father. On realizing that she's married his focus shifts to her sibling Vandana (Charmme).

As expected Vandana falls for his charms, marries him but insists on moving into his modest home. Rubbing salt on his wounds is his co-brother Ravi (Ravi Babu) who challenges Leela Krishna to earn a decent living. Now the hero has a goal. He stumbles upon a case where he needs to show ethics but opts for a safer way. The most craziest part of the story is when the hero refuses to speak the truth, an injection is given to him to come clean in the court. What follows are some more poorly constructed scenes to ramp up the drama.

Charmi and Satya Krishna's conversation is immature and weird, both confine themselves to looking innocent and pretty. The former is seen throughout the film in plunging necklines. Ali as Viswanath, the hero's side kick is repetitively bugging with silly dialogues. Ravi Babu is a set property and nothing more. There are quite a few profane dialogues, the film has been awarded U/A certificate.

0 Mr.Perfect 2011 Telugu Movie Prabhas And Kajal Movie Reviews

Rating: 2.5/5

Banner: Sri Venkateshwara Creations

Cast: Prabhas, Kajal, Taapsee, K Vishwanath, Prakashraj, Sayaji Shinde, Nasser, Murali Mohan, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Master Bharat etc

Music: Devisri Prasad

Cinematography: Vijay K Chakravarthy

Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh

Director: Dasaradh

Producer: Dil Raju

Release date: 22/04/2011

Prabhas is back and after almost a year. He paired up with Kajal and it is also a crucial big budget venture for producer Dil Raju. Let us see how perfect this gets..

Story

Vicky (Prabhas) who lives in Australia grows with a rule that he would never compromise for anything he doesn’t like. Given his practical thinking, he wants everything to be perfect, even in relationships. The marriage of his sister gets him to India and here he meets Priya, daughter of his father’s friend (Murali Mohan). As such, Vicky’s father (Nasser) wants him to get married to Priya.

Initially, both Vicky and Priya feel repulsive but in no time, Priya starts falling in love. She begins to change herself to suit Vicky’s life and thoughts. However, when the moment comes, Vicky gives his practical outlook and returns to Australia.

Here, he meets Maggi (Taapsee) through a competition and feels she is the perfect one. How perfect is Maggi for Vicky? How true is Priya’s love for Vicky? How correct is Vicky in his thoughts? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Prabhas has given a decent performance. He scores in his outfits and timing of dialogues but he should have reduced the mannerism of keeping his hand in pant pocket in almost all scenes, might look like fashion and style but felt like an overdose.

Kajal Agarwal is expressively beautiful and is drop dead gorgeous in sarees. She is a visual treat to the audience and steals few more hearts with her endearing smiles. Performance wise, she was apt.

Taapsee looks hot and fits the bill rightly given her character. The dubbing suited her expressions and she fills the glamour quotient.

K Vishwanath was elegant, Prakashraj was matured, Sayaji Shinde was noisy, Nasser was natural, Brahmi tried to bring few smiles, Raghu Babu was jarring, Master Bharat was regular. The ladies did their bit to support.

Highlights

Prabhas- Kajal screen chemistry
Locations and cinematography
Costumes
Theme of the film
Screenplay

Drawbacks

Prabhas hair style
Second half
Weak emotional scenes
Overdose of moral preaching

Analysis:

The film comes across as a clean, family entertainer and the intention of the makers must be appreciated. Their attempt to reiterate the values of love, life, relationships in today’s world is acknowledged. However, dealing with such human subjects requires humane feel and a deft handling of the script, that was missing here.

As such, the protagonist goes with the flow of destiny but there is nothing significant he does to perfect the situations. He is more on the receiving end most of the time. On the other hand, the idea of a girl willing to adapt herself like that was rather unconvincing (of course, finding a girl like that in today’s times is jackpot fortune).

First half comprises with good humor and flow of drama. And second half also continues in similar fashion recalling the blend of Santhosham and Bommarillu but with weak handling of emotions. Required emotion is not carried in the fag end of the film and hence it appeared weak.

The film deals with the understanding of relations between younger generation and the older ones. The plus point in the film is that all the songs are good with pleasing music and sensible lyrics. But all are situational songs and no duets are seen in this genre of film, surprisingly.

Having said that, the film appeals largely due to the conviction in the belief of love, sharing and how few things in life cannot be got merely by rational thinking. At the box office, this is a treat for the family audience and given the craze for Prabhas and Kajal, the openings will be strong. Overall, this would be anywhere between an average and profit grosser.

Bottomline: Appeals For a particular section of family audience because of over sentimental drama

Behind the Movie Mr. Perfect: The recent soft lover boy image of Prabhas secured after ‘Darling’ will be examined once again with this flick in direction of Dasaradh. As usual producer ‘Dil’ Raju keeping too many hopes with presence of two beautiful heroines Kajal Agarwal, Tapsee and music from Devi Sri Prasad, here arrives ‘Mr. Perfect’ today into theatres. Let us see, how perfect is this film?

In the Movie Mr. Perfect: Vicky (Prabhas) is a modern day perfect young boy dreaming high about future. He is working in Australia on dream project to start own animation (video games) industry. Vicky doesn’t believe in old ideologies. In order to stay victorious in life, he doesn’t mind hurting others by disrespecting their values and sentiments. He feels himself as ‘Mr. Perfect’ with no adjusting attitude.

One fine day, Vicky’s father (Nazar) asks him to arrive in India for attending sister’s marriage in their native village in a Coastal district. Other purpose of this visit is to make Vicky meet Priya (Kajal Agarwal), his old school mate and fix their marriage. Priya is a girl of self respect who finds her joy in happiness of others. Although Vicky and Priya are initially quarrelsome, they soon patch up and love buds between the two. Finally when Priya changes her priorities and interests getting ready to marry Vicky, he disapproves her reasoning incompatible mentalities.

On his way back in Australia, Vicky meets Maggie (Tapsee) whose thought of mind is exactly same as him. When both of them get ready for marriage and approach Maggie’s industrialist father KP (Prakash Raj), he keeps an interesting test for Vicky to win his daughter. Vicky on his way to win Maggie by passing this test understands the true meaning of life. How did KP’s family change the thinking and attitude of Vicky? How did Vicky win back his true love Priya? forms the heavy climax.

Values of the Movie Mr. Perfect: In shorter version producer ‘Dil’ Raju’s team has once again relied on an emotional story line comparing the beliefs and mental outlooks of past and present generations. Shades of ‘Orange’ and ‘Brindavanam’ are easily observable in the film. Apparently story was thin but script was burdensome. Dasaradh tried his best to make patrons glued to his emotions. Unfortunately slow narration and old pickled boiling family drama have taken a toll and director Dasaradh failed in these aspects. Dialogues by Abburi Ravi are quite interesting which can be considered as life line for ‘Mr.Perfect.’ Music by Devi Sri Prasad was good work for two songs and background sensed like a copy of ‘Bommarillu.’ Cinematography by Vijay Chakravarthy was fine while editing by Marthand K Venkatesh became weak in second half. Production values of ‘Dil’ Raju are definitely remarkable.

Performance wise Prabhas got a new character with two different shades. The macho man well balanced the both and excelled in spelling lengthy dialogues with utmost feel. Surely Prabhas raised his acting standards appreciably shouldering the movie in compliance with beautiful Kajal Agarwal who looked awesome. She undoubtedly won the hearts of audience with cute looks and sweet expressions. Tapsee enters in second half with a typical character quite matching to her energy standards. Self dubbing of Tapsee left a bad remark damaging her role. Comedy by Brahmanandam as Jalsa Kishore was a laughter riot. His presence saved the first half to maximum extent. Among others Naazar, K. Vishwanath, Prakashraj, Sayaji Shinde, Pragathi, Sameer, Kasi Vishwanath, Master Bharath, Raghu Babu etc well handled their roles.

Out of the Movie Mr. Perfect: ‘Dil’ Raju’s confidence on sticking to his own psychology of repeatedly relying on emotional story lines hasn’t worked totally this time. Although there are few glitches of interesting and heart touching episodes but this is not a Perfect package to shine at Box Office. Prabhas and Kajal gave a delightful performance with superb chemistry which was not alone enough to pull the movie for two and half hours. Especially missing of emotional efficacy and depth of scenes in second half might cause adequate problems for movie’s success.

All the village episodes with enough fun generating ingredients mixed in first half worked very well. Of course story moved hardly by an inch. Yet first half is easily passable with an expected interval bang. Second half is where actual movie unfolds which lagged to entertain audience with inconsistence and slow storytelling. In particular lengthy, exhaustive second half served negative for entire film.

BO wise a section of family audience might like the overdosed emotional and sentimental scenes with Prabhas leading from front. Other wise ‘Mr. Perfect’ is age old wine in new bottle.

Verdict of Mr. Perfect: Not totally Perfect!

Director Dasarath has a fetish for stories revolving around relationships and he showed his forte while executing Santosham, a mix of love and the inter-personal relations in a family. You are reminded of this film while watching Mr. Perfect but there is quite a lot of difference between both the movies despite a common point. In Santosham there is a lot of emotion and expression from every character in the film and the characters allow themselves to speak mostly through silence, the sermonizing is there but it's thrown in subtle quantities after the love story develops.

In Mr. Perfect the lessons on give and take begins even before love is allowed to bloom and goes on till the last frame. While Santosham was a perfect blend of expressions, emotions, dialogues and love, here the dialogues take precedence. There is a lot of depth and meaning in each dialogue but what should be interspersed comes in regularly, briskly not giving you time to savour the expression of each character and understand what they said. Also the film winds up very fast after a logical and a predictable ending leaving you wondering with a something missing feel. Especially for audiences who are used to the fights, conflicts, twists and turns watching a simple film with no high points and tense moments gives you a feeling that it has been abruptly ended.

The story, concept is nice to read and listen but while watching it on screen, one needs that something to make it complete. What was it? The humour that centres around Viswanath, Raghu Babu was juvenile, the subject caters to family audiences alone, there is no romantic feel between either Taapsee and Prabhas or Kajal and Prabhas.

One should be able to come out with the right expression and match it with a dialogue such as those in Mr. Perfect. The director didn't give too much time between each of the couples to establish their relationship, either they were very casual or very emotional and kept walking in and out. One is expected to gather the feeling from a song or a duet. While on paper everything seemed perfect, it was the performances that weren't perfect. Welling up eyes doesn't sum up to emotion or showing pearly whites doesn't tantamount to happiness.

The concept of the film is actually good, about people debating if they should marry a certain person based on a certain quality. Vicky (Prabhas) is a man who believes in living his dreams and doesn't believe in a relationship that is based on adjustments and compromise. When he is asked to marry his childhood friend, he is game to it though the couple differ in thinking.

On family advice they change their approach but the hero thinks that both of them are just putting their best foot forward and the process of impressing each other might not last long; so even while admitting he likes the girl he calls it quits amicably. The parents are shocked and the girl sad because she has actually started liking him and has come to terms with his likes and dislikes.

She says towards the finale, "You like yourself the best so I thought let me tune myself to your likes and dislikes and you'll like me and we can be harmonious together." Coming back to the story, the hero meets a girl in Oz and thinks she is a perfect match because their thinking matches, but the moral of the story is 'a perfect couple is one whose hearts meet.' The film is slow and lacks the excitement and euphoria of love. Music is good and so is cinematography.

Kajal is ravishing, she has always been a good performer, Taapsee is a revelation, she is capable of giving her best which is based on her role in the film. The past two films she appeared frivolous but in this movie despite a fairly simple role she was able to project her character. Kajal has done such roles before, it is high time she tries something more superior. Prabhas is correctly dressed but when it came to his performance, he could have been more vibrant.

0 DUM మారో DUM సినిమా రివ్యూ Dum Maaro Dum Movie Review - Drugs, Desires & Death…!! [In Telugu And English]

ENGLISH REVIEW

Rating: 3/5

Banners: Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, Fox Star Studios

Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Pancholi, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati

Music: Pritam Chakraborty

Cinematography: Amit Roy

Director: Rohan Sippy

Producer: Ramesh Sippy

Release Date: April 22, 2011

While Abhishek Bachchan is taking his litmus test owing to his string of flops, it is also the debut of our Daggubati Rana in Bollywood. Let us see how much ‘Dum’ the film has got

Story:

Set on the backdrop of Goa, the story is about how drugs have taken over the paradise city and the increased presence of drug mafia.

Here comes ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek) who decides to clean up the place. On the other hand, there is the social celebrity Lorsa Biscuita (Aditya Pancholi) who in the garb of social service runs a big drug cartel.

Caught in between the clash of Vishnu and Biscuit is DJ Joki (Rana) whose girlfriend Zoe (Bipasha) now stays with Biscuit, Lorie (Prateik) who aspires to go abroad and study but gets caught taking drugs. The search is on for one Michael Barbossa, the kingpin of this drug ring. Who is Michael Barbossa? What happens to everyone’s life forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Abhishek Bachchan has come up with a strict performance and though there are those blank expressions, he makes his presence felt.

Daggubati Rana can be called the hero of the film. His screen time is longer than Abhishek, he has a significant role in the entire story and he gets to have the hot Bipasha. Performance wise, his stiff expressions still carry. He is yet to get that versatility of expressions on his face. Otherwise, his screen presence is good. He is worth getting another chance on Bollywood screen.

Bipasha Basu is seductive as usual and she does her bit as required.

Aditya Pancholi was handsome as usual and though his presence as the baddie doesn’t give that impact, he has given a sincere performance.

Prateik Babbar was apt, Govind Namdeo was great, Gantois Gomes was neat, Anaitha Nair was sweet. Deepika Padukone’s item song was not up to the hype. Vidya Balan’s cameo was brief but graceful.

Highlights:

Cinematography
Dialogues
First half
Scene compositions

Drawbacks:

Dragged second half
Deepika’s item song was dull
No impacting scenes
No character has significance

Analysis:

The basic plot of the film reminds us of the exceptional thriller ‘Usual Suspects’. However, the makers were clever in switching the characters here and there, changing the script with additional characters.

On the good side, the film was stylish, glossy and attempts to give some reality bites of Goa. On the flip side, the film passes off without any gripping moments or sequences that can strike a chord with the hearts of the audience.

Editing was much needed during the second half and if the film was trimmed there, it would have created good impact. But still, the attempt was novel, the essence was appreciable, the presentation was effective. At the box office, this will appeal to the multiplex audience so if word of mouth publicity goes strong, it can reach profit zone.

Bottomline: Watchable but will not give you the ‘High’!!!

Movie : Shakti
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast : Jr NTR, Ileana, Sonu Sood, Pooja Bedi, Nasser, Jackie Shroff, Prabhu, Vinod Kumar, S P Balu, Ali, Krishna Bhagawan, Brahmanandam, M S Narayana and others
Directed by : Meher Ramesh
Produced by : Ashwini Dutt
Banner : Vyjayanthi Movies
Music : Mani Sharma
Release Date : 2011-04-01

Story:

An illogical tale, the story begins with an Egyptian sorceress Makhtoom (Pooja Bedi) who is desperate to have a Rudrashoolam and Jwalamukhi. The Rudrashoolam is with international don Jackie (Jackie shroff) and the Jwalamukhi is with Mahadevarayalu (Prabhu), the union home minister. He is also trying to get the Rudrashoolam from Jackie. Meanwhile, his daughter Iswarya (Ileana) feels tied up with her father's security. She plans with her friends (Ali and others) and she escapes with them to have a holiday. In their journey, they are joined by Shakti (Jr NTR) as their tour guide. Makhtoom targets Iswarya as she wants to kidnap her and get the Jwalamukhi but Shakti comes in between and protects her. However, Shakti also has a link with the Rudrashoolam and Jwalamukhi. What is that link? How does all this end forms the rest of the story.

Artist Performances:

Jr NTR gives a decent performance but his role as a warrior was not convincing, he looks like a misfit due to his poor clothing and characterization. Ileana looks gorgeous and she gave the required visual feast in songs and some scenes. Pooja Bedi was okay, Sonu Sood was hardly there, Jackie Shroff looks stylish, Nasser was impressive, Prabhu was elegant, Vinod Kumar filled the screen for a while, Ali and Krishna Bhagawan were okay. Brahmi came and went. SP Balu, Manjari Phadnis, Manju Bhargavi, Pavitra Lokesh did their bit as required.

Plus Points:

* Ileana's Glamour
* Production Values
* Background Score
* Art Department

Minus Points:

* Horrible Direction
* Weak Content
* Poor Screenplay
* Cheap Comedy
* Lacks Emotion In Critical Scenes
* Dragging Second Half
* Weak Etching Of Characters

Analysis:

Given all that hype about the costliest movie made in Tollywood, the film came in with expectations but the major culprit for making a mess of this is the director. He lacked the maturity to handle such a big project, didn't have the taste or the class to execute important sequences, didn’t give any soul or feel to emotional moments. Overall, it was clear that there was no conviction from his end to make this film an interesting treat and get the audience to connect despite having a wonderful concept. Director must realize that a film needs an artistic touch and there should be a feel which can stir the curiosity of the viewer and touch their heart at one point or the other. Nothing happened here and as a result, the film became a damp squib. At the box office, the film will find it hard to recover its investment.

Verdict: Terrible treatment to a terrific thought!

0 "Bhale Mogudu Bhale Pellam" Movie Review!!

Ten minutes into Bhale Mogudu Bhale Pellam and you wonder how this movie worked for 100 days in Kannada and what made the audiences ask for a sequel. Great actors can look talentless when beset with bad writing and direction, Rajendra Prasad and Suhasini work in the remake of a Kannada Hit 'Eradane Maduve', a very very archaic story. They waste an opportunity and time here over a narrative that has little matter or dignity.

Venkat (Rajendra Prasad) loses his job in the income tax department for raiding a politician's house; none in the house trust him and he loses respect in the family, so much that even the domestic helps treat him with indifference. His wife Madhavi (Suhasini) works, handles the three grown up girls at home and all of them collectively make jibes at Venkat's postion.

Hurt by the attitude, Venkat takes his friend's counsel and brings a woman home just to gain attention from his wife. Madhavi behaves strangely, jealous she definitely is but her conversations on her marital problems with her daughters is downright silly. In the second half of the story the wife brings a young man home on a rebound, he turns out to be her daughter's love interest.

Communication is the key to any disturbed relationship, to show this solution the director who is also the writer creates a romantic comedy over a not so young actors who depend on an insipid script to dish out laughter. If that wasn't bad enough, the pacing issues of the film is simply slow, dragging and retreading matter repeatedly like a drum. Raghu Babu's comedy is juvenile and deafening.

The brightspot in Bhale Mogudu Bhale Pellam is Jhansi who in her slim avatar becomes the audiences' alter ego, showing her disgust at the happenings in the house. Suhasini's character is lost in it's interpretation, her anger seems more like a hormonal outburst, Rajendra Prasad's work is one dimensional and he can go back to talk about his work in Aa Naluguru again. Cinematography is dull, performances pedestrian.

Kaveri Jha and Surya Tej do their parts well but are wasted. This story is an unmitigated disaster in every aspect. A 50 year old winning formula regurgitated.

The award winning director Sunil Kumar Reddy has come up with yet another hard hitting theme and this time, he chose a rather concerning life of fishermen. Let us see how it is

Story
Set on the backdrop of the sea coast, the story is about the lives of the fishermen. In that lives Bosanna (Ramky) and his friends Burugu and Satti. Despite their best efforts, their catch of fish is quite low.

A girl from the same community Nookalu (Tanmayi) is in love with Bosanna but he never pays attention to her. On the other hand, a noted industrialist Ajay Dheeraj (Subbaraju) casts his eye on the shore and wants to set up a fishing company. He uses his clout and begins to make his moves by hook or crook.

Then there is the enthusiastic news reader/journalist Swapna (Gayathri) who is keen on bringing a change to the society but has a taste of reality through a coverage of the fishermen’s lives. She also decides to expose the dark side of Ajay’s moves.

What happens to all their lives and ambitions forms the rest of the story.

Performances
Ramky is alright and though he doesn’t fit well as a fisherman due to his dressing and body language, he tries to do his best.

Tanmayi looks natural and given her rustic looks, she fits the bill. She is not much of a looker (due to over skin tan) but has shown good confidence and ease in front of the camera.

Subbaraju looks handsome and does his bit as required. However, he must stop imitating the mannerisms of Mahesh Babu. He has enough potential within himself to be displayed.

Gayathri Rao looks sweet and she carries her role with aplomb.

Ravu Ramesh was intense and he is exceptional when it comes to serious roles, LB Sriram was brief but gives a riveting act, Gundu Sudarshan brought few smiles. The characters of Burugu, Satti tried to fill the gaps. The others were quite realistic and gave good support to the lead cast.

Overdose of negativity
Purity of Language, not all audience can follow
Analysis
Firstly, the makers must be commended for coming up with such a glaring issue and bringing it as close to reality as possible. At the same time, they must realize that this is a film which has to be made for satisfaction and creating the awareness but cannot expect this to fill their bank accounts.

Director Sunil Kumar has shown that there is an artistic soul in him and the scenes where he captures the sensuousness of the leading lady along with the flavor of eroticism is quite evident. He must be appreciated for his lyrical fervor and romanticism in thought.

There was good balance between realistic portrayal and appealing glamour. Overall, the film is meant for art-house audience, film festivals and special screenings but not for Aam Janata.

Bottomline: Good attempt for a cause, cannot be for cash

RATING WILL NOT BE GIVEN AS THE MOVIE IS PICTURIZED FOR GOOD CAUSE

Story, screenplay, direction: P A Arun Prasad

Noted actor Jagapathi Babu is back and this time he is donning the role of a cop. He is flanked by his regular favorite Vimala Raman so let us see how the movie is.

Story:
Gowri Shankar (Jagapathi Babu) is a police inspector and he believes in doing settlements, taking commissions for his work and is corrupted. He is assisted by his constable Ranga Rao (Jeeva).

A case of acid attack on college students and the kidnapping of a girl and her killing brings some tension but things get complicated as the criminals in both cases are also killed. In comes CB-CID officer (Murali Sharma) to investigate the deaths and he is assisted by Gowri.

His investigations lead him to discover that Gowri is the killer. Why does Gowri kill them?

Why he decides to kill even the dreaded terrorist Hasab (Amit Dhawan)? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Jagapathi Babu does his bit as required and it is a cakewalk for him. As such, there is nothing impact creating from him and he goes about doing his job mechanically.

Vimala Raman is there to add the glamour for the songs and indulge in some skin show. Though she doesn’t have that sort of body or curves to flaunt her sex appeal is quite natural.

Murali Sharma is a natural performer. He is a strong talent who deserves more chances. He does his bit effectively and has a strong screen presence.

Asha Saini looks sizzling and seductive, she has that oomph which can raise the heat. Jeeva was usual. Amit Dhawan was eccentric. Ravu Ramesh was consistent. The others didn’t have much to do.

Highlights

Last ten minutes
Murali Sharma’s performance

Drawbacks

Weak direction
Predictable storyline
Low technical values
No grip in any scene
No comedy
Dull romance
Analysis
To start with, director PA Arun Prasad must be appreciated for involving the terrorist Ajmal Kasab in his film and the fact that our hero goes and kills him. Apart from that, the rest of the film has taken the lead from the acid attack cases on Praneetha (whose killers were encountered by police as wished in this film) and the boiler killing of the little girl Vyshnavi in Vijayawada.

Just like a director has his strokes in a film, PA Arun Kumar shows his strokes by creating some raunchy scenes and inferior comedy. Overall, the film’s attempt to convey a strong message is appreciable but the logic and the way the message was conveyed was not practical.

It is true that looking at the present day functioning of law and order, citizens tend to incline towards tribal law that states ‘an eye for an eye’ and a ‘life for a life’. But the consequences of that are to be studied. That is a very big debatable issue indeed.

At the box office, there is nothing that the film has to hold the audience so the chance of below average result is high.

Bottom-line: Watch it for last ten minutes!!
Verdict of the Movie Chattam: Strong Idea with Weak Presentation.
